I'm a Zeta Tau Alpha and I don't wear heavy make up nor do I have a "princess complex." They call it mutual selection but really the sororities are selecting, and the PNMs are choosing from these options after the sororities have made their decisions. A top tier sorority can basically pick just who they want among pledges, while a low tier sorority takes the leftovers. They try to be the cool girls on campus. Just behind Theta in that respect. Sisterhood is not a competition!! Among the negative sentiments about Chi Omega members is that they can be a bit isolated (maybe even exclusionary) and limit themselves to their own philanthropic and social activities over cooperation with other Greek-letter organizations. Some sororities have close ties to fraternities on the same campus and get together informally and for major events. My experience was that the Kappas, Thetas and Pi Phis were tops. Many girls who get AXD end up dropping. . A "top" tier sorority can basically pick just who they want among pledges, while a "low" tier sorority takes the leftovers. Tri Delt /Alpha Phi They are probably number three IMO. Tami Rogers from Seattle, Washington on February 09, 2015: Both of my daughters are DG's at the University of Washington. Definitely party girls. I find this to be interestingly accurate for major generalizations about sororities. I am still stunned by the APhi turnaround but I see things from AXiD that make me think they are working something there that my chapter is not. Some are more popular in the northeast and others in the southern states; some sororities focus more on philanthropy or academics and others on social activities. In fact, you shouldnt even be tiering sororities, because that shouldnt matter. Tri-Delt: This years pledge class put DDD from Top Tier to Lower Top Tier. No one is saying that these reputations are absolute for every chapter in every university. Yes Zeta did well. Pi Beta Phi girls ("Pi Phis) are considered by most to be top-tier but also have a reputation as fake and superficial. The KD girls at my school aren't afraid of being a little odd and that's what makes them so approachable. Because honestly, sororities aren't like what you see in the movies. I'm a Chi Omega from Ole Miss. One of the "top" sororities in this write-up just had to shut down their chapter, and one of the "mid-tier" sororities has so many top women that it's almost embarrassing to the other sororities on campus. Pi Phi: Their PC18 had some snap bids and it seemed like this year girls prefered Zeta and Chi O above Pi Phi. Every one of their pledge classes is worse than the last. They literally did not have any freshmen come to pref night who had Chi O and Zeta left. Why is it that every other day we get some insecure big 6 girl coming in and posting a thread like this to reaffirm the outdated social hierarchy theyre so desperate to maintain. AEPhi: Fun party girls. :) Dont believe everything you read people. Audrey Selig from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on August 24, 2013: My sorority is not on this list, but I am aware of Pi Phi, KD, Chi Omega. Tri Delt should take notes. You know those girls that were left over or that nobody else would take? I've heard a lot about PKT, Pi Phi ,Kappa, Theta, because they all go after rich girls. Three or maybe four girls, I think. Fraternities Sororities University of Texas at Austin - UT Fraternities Total Fraternities: 38 Overall Average: 63.2% Fraternities - By Name Sort By: Name | Rank Name Rate Ratings Grade Stars Acacia Rate 191 63.65% Alpha Epsilon Pi - Rate 92 64.85% Alpha Sigma Phi - Rate 20 58.55% Alpha Tau Omega - Rate 223 69.38% Beta Chi Theta - Having strong communication skills matter. Even if you don't think sororities are for you, I would suggest just giving it a shot. AXD may be bottom but they are great! Many undergraduates are affiliated with fraternities and sororities, which often provide a sense of community and connection to other students that make their university experience positive and memorable. Will always be a bottom tier. such websites are not going to give you any information to work with when selecting (or dropping) a sorority. I'm not a member of either, but I read it and thought "Wow, somebody doesn't like the Pi Phis". So of course I mean - ignore stupid trash like greekrank.com. They took a lot of girls Theta, Pi Phi, and Chi o all had at pref though so bet some people dont agree with you. I never felt compelled to join myself, but you are right, those that do good charity work should be admired. APHI and AXO are very similar. Garrett Mickley from Jupiter, Florida on July 13, 2011: That's very interesting. I hope that whoever wrote this or may read this can see beyond stereotypes. No one wants to say it because they have a strong tradition and are nice girls and don't really appear to be struggling for numbers or anything. I don't get why the Thetas aren't on this list. They have heavier girls in their sorority and would completely humiliate their pledges by making them strip down in front of their brother frat to circle 'prob' areas in a sharpie. Having stellar grade matter. Im a DZ and we just received the 2019 Chapter of the Year award from the University of Tennessee Panhellenic Council. Woody H. (not Hayes) on December 14, 2013: Very, very interesting stuff!!! Pi Phi is a good chapter. Most likely the girl that says she will only go XYZ or AB will be cut by those two houses and she will either eat crow or drop out. I can agree it has to be an objective sort, of survey that produces such varied results, but as there many kinds of, people, there must be many kinds of "groups" to belong to. Alpha Gamma Delta - low-to-mid tier (annoying pranksters; nice but rude when partying; service oriented) - They seem to have a good sisterhood, which seems to be fueled by their need to pull pranks on other frats or steal things from frat houses. Mar 13, 2019 2:37:18 AM What are the sorority reputations at UT? is usually a top tier sorority and the girls in it are wonderful.. Every sorority has partiers, so nothing should make aphi stand out in that area. The Kappas aren't rich like the Pi Phis and Thetas. Delete it; you look stupid. They were students calling Phi Mu girls Phi Moo at Arkansas and then the girls at LSU are pretty girls and it's a popular sorority. However their PC18 was better than AChiOs,DGs,KDs, and ADPis. Upper Bottom Tier: AXiD Whatever you read here should probably be ignored. These girls are amazingly talented and unique and express their own individualism while having most of the campus like them. Zeta: Less classy than Chi O and Tri Delt, usually girls who prioritize their reputation and their instagram pictures over everything else. I'd say Chi O is more top tier and Pi Phi is universal top tier. This was really interesting to read. Okay so here are the real sorority rankings at UT Austin IMO Upper Top Tier: Theta, Pi Phi, Kappa (aka PKT) Theta: IMO best pledge class. Rest pretty accurate. Can you do anything about this? Medium low-ish, ish ish. Theta girls are a lot more "fun" and Kappa girls are more "nice" girls. Very pretty, very smart, very snobbish. Back to Topics in the News Background Summary The University of Texas at Austin has 1,100 registered student organizations, including close to 70 social sororities and fraternities. These incidents dont define them either. Find something you're interested in, but most importantly, just get a feel for where you belong. Generally rich, classy, snobby, and brunettes Who are equestrians. I would say pretty girls but many chunky and athletic. They are known for hazing and weak sisterhood. I find that Pi Beta Phi, Kappa Alpha Theta, and Kappa Kappa Gamma, all are considered "top tier' nationally. They got lots of girls who made it through two rounds of at least one of PKT but then got dropped. Trust the process. Delta Gamma (DGs) is considered a mid-tier sorority almost everywhere across the country. Top Tier: Zeta, Chi-O Each chapter differs from each campus, and obviously you didnt take that into consideration. F off with this. Chi Os, as members are sometimes called, like cultivating a good girl image. This reputation is by no means uniform, which may be due to the diversity of girls who pledge KD. Pi Phis tend to be arrogant, and really don't care what people think of them, they seem to be above it all. Definitely ChiO and KKG are the top tier at most schools. AOIIs can have the reputation of being "srat" girls - sorority girls who hangout with a particular fraternity on campus. Zeta did have a great year but you guys are not rushing against PKT. Some of those houses still hold clout, but others are slipping. You would already know what the chapters are like. UConn, and Ohio State. So my assumption is that you are going into rush without knowing (m)any girls in the chapters. Again, to get in you need to know people, be beautiful, and be from the right areas. I find that college is s great place to create lasting friendships, with or without a sorority. i think everyone can agree that this is wrong. nice, sweet, classy but exclusionary, not partyers, easy, fun, supportive, active in Greek life, partyers, fun, easy-going, social, not academically ambitious, quirky, major partyers, supportive, active in campus activities, classy, focused on girl power, not partyers, service-oriented, aloof, snobbish, not partyers, Southern, exclusive, hot in a fake way, partyers, low-profile, down-to-earth, involved in service, not partyers, fake, social, pretty, not service-oriented. If you want the basics (i.e. I'll take a go at it. This is not just for UT but for many other schools.
,UT rush is incredibly competitive due to the high number of legacies and in state students who already have connections with the chapters, plus the number of PNMs who only seem to want one of six chapters. Delta Zeta is probably the hardest to get in on our campus. dg is in NO WAY on the same level as achio, they have been going down for years and this years PC proved that. This is complete nonsense and pure garbage. Y'all gave so many girls to them this year who would have loved to be DDD but you dropped them! PKT..very different chapters but all three required major connections to get in. So much wrong about this. this is so out of date it's pathetic. The fact that many Tri-Delts consider themselves top-tier might explain some of the resentment they get from other sororities. Majority of the school hates them. The Big 6 is a phrase coined by Texas Monthly back when gas was 25 cents a gallon. Theyre friendly and make everyone feel welcome, and they were really good at that during rush. Because these girls are perceived to be confident, you will find some quirky and offbeat members among them and plenty who dont care what other sororities think. Chi O, Delta Zeta, Alpha Phi, and Alpha Chi Omega were pretty accurate according to the different campuses I have visited. They will still be in your house rushing for you next year instead of rushing for Alpha Phi. I see changes over time in AXiD and think they're not going to stay down for much longer. There are some sororities that are almost impossible to get in if you don't have a specific resume, as they have their list prepared ahead of recruitment.
